The Ilchester Arms is a family run rustic pub and restaurant with rooms – our passion is to provide fantastic food at an affordable price, wrapped up in a comfortable and stimulating environment. Whether you choose to have a cider and snack by the fire, a home made afternoon tea after a country walk or a freshly caught sea bass supper, we’ve created nibbles through to informal a la carte dining for all occasions.
With on-site parking, 9 en-suite bedrooms and beautiful views from the garden up to St Catherine’s chapel, The Ilchester Arms is the perfect destination to enjoy precious time with friends and family.
Well behaved dogs on leads are also very welcome – please ask about our pet-friendly bedrooms.
EAT
Serving home-made food using fresh, local produce is a priority for us. Our butchers, fish, vegetable and cheese suppliers are all local companies, hand-picked for their quality, and with seasonal menus we use the freshest ingredients all year round.
We have such an array of fantastic produce available around Dorset and the Jurassic coast, it’s a delight to keep the menus simple and craft them around what’s fresh and particularly delicious that week… along with keeping hold of a few of our resident British favourites.
Menus have been designed to work with every budget – from lighter, home-made bar snacks and staple ‘hearty favourites’ through to our rustic a la carte seafood and steak dinners. We also offer breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas (see our menu to pre-order) and can even make a cake for that special occasion – please contact us directly and you can speak to our pastry chef about options.

The characterful circular bar at The Ilchester Arms is the ultimate setting in which to enjoy one of our 40+ hand-picked wines, real ales, draft ciders, local beers and liqueurs. We pride ourselves on having an extensive menu and supporting local suppliers wherever possible.
We also have plenty of delightful non-alcoholic beverages, serving superior barista style coffee, ‘The Gilded Teapot’ teas and freshly blended smoothies and juices, plus quality bar nibbles and home-made snacks.
The recently renovated interior now provides a selection of comfortable sofas and scattered rustic table seating areas in which to relax and while away the afternoon … along with an entertaining selection of board games, books, doggy bowls and film screenings, we like to ensure that every guest feels at home!
