FISHING
Sea and shore angling are extremely popular along the coast, and Chesil beach (right behind The Ilchester Arms) is one of the most popular and easily accessible spots for shore angling; with bass, cod, mackerel and plaice all regularly caught depending on the time of year. The nearby harbours at Lyme Regis and West Bay also provide great opportunities for sea fishing.
Anyone over the age of 12 fishing in freshwaters in England or Wales must have a valid Environment Agency rod licence. No licence is required to fish from the beach. Rod licences are available from Post Offices, the Environment Agency website or by telephoning 0870 1662 662.
