THE SWANNERY

Originally established by Benedictine monks around 1040, the Swannery is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dorset. Visitors can hand-feed the swans at 12 noon and 4pm every day, and there’s also a maze and children’s play area.

The Swannery houses the worlds only colony of nesting mute swans,  and the gorgeous cygnets are due to be hatching mid May which is well worth a visit.

It’s only a short walk from The Ilchster Arms, situated just at the other end of the village.
